The Fae Realm's chaotic nature allows its people to take on whichever form their souls desire, but among the chaos their are still beasts who roam in the wilderness. A creature of grand size found in Fae Realm forests is the Yathrimos, who strides across the land unchallenged. With a serpentine neck and nimble reflexes, they can navigate almost any terrain and graze on leaves while perched on the canopy. Their woodland diet doesn't leave them entirely satiated, and they've been known to wander into fields and coastlines to start snatching up prey. Their stubby toes can unsheathe deadly claws that can rake through hide and leave markings in stone.
Stumbling on a group of these creatures can be somewhat unnerving, as their monstrous frame moves as quietly as a ghost. Seeing them in forest is usually safe, as they rest in glades or browse the tree tops. Watchful adventurers should note the colour of the Yathrimos's eye, which is pink when calm, and red when ready to pounce. Yathrimos also have a bizarre, gooey mane that smells like nectar which also goes through a colour change-- when pink, it drips occasionally, growing flowers where it spills, and when red, it becomes a volatile acid that can be extremely dangerous to the touch. Yathrimos are remembered in Hiraeth as frightening monsters, as they occasionally make the trip between realms by mistake. Nightmarish stories have been told of a pale serpent who slithers in through the window, trying to gobble up the residents as they sleep.
