Description

Western Hiraeth was known for its brave knights and staunch soldiers, each carrying their own story with them into battle. The golden valleys of western wild lands are memorialized with their weapons plunged into the ground, either placed willingly or as a final act. These markers dotting the countryside are symbols of the sacrifice of others, making each like a shrine unto themselves. Coming here to meditate and hone their craft are the Cludreath, demons of morale. The Cludreath have been witness to many Fae Realm battles over time, but prefer the Hiraeth landscape, and the reverence they have for old stories. The swirling foundation of the Fae Realm is often unstable, and old stories are often disregarded in the chaos. Cludreath revel in tales of heroism, and do their best to memorize each of them. The Cludreath themselves take on the mantle of an old hero; a spirit from mythical times who wore armor fashioned from the hide of a werebeast. Most Cludreath wear a carved wooden helmet, but strive to take on the same armor one day.

Cludreath often go to places of grave misfortune and carry old stories to recount to hopefully inspire people going through hard times. They also join in battles wielding a spear-tipped banner-- the banner marked by whichever heraldry the Cludreath chooses. Some scoff at the idea of an image holding power, but sigils can emanate with immense strength if created with honour and respect. Cludreath often work with other heroic demons and spirits, calling back dreams from a bygone age of legends, but some Cludreath use their power for nefarious means. They are privy to an ancient craft-- a horn carved from the warped entrails of a werebeast which, when blown, rallies ghosts from their slumber. Malevolent Cludreath recount to these Moon-blind souls the tales of their demise, sending them into a tormented frenzy. Using this horn to call upon the resting souls of the old warriors they were intended to emulate is seen as a great sin, and skirmishes between Cludreath knighthoods can break out. In the spectrum of demons that live throughout the world, the Cludreath are some of the most befriended and trusted among the people of Hiraeth, breaking past former stigmas.
