Description
An old omen carried out of the west is the figure of a towering knight, breaking the tree line and marching off into the unknown. In ancient times they were believed to be an amalgamation of legendary heroes, together with a soul that touched the heavens. Seeing them at certain times of day was either a curse or a blessing. What people were seeing was the Vosvogora-- plated giants coated in spikes with long, ghoulish limbs that can tear apart land and flesh with ease. They are a rare species, and aren't well known to the current generation-- their mystery being heightened by the fact they are hard to track despite their massive size. With boundless endurance they can keep moving for weeks on end, and with their intelligence only the most skilled monster wranglers can track them, let alone confront them. With both haste and stamina, their willpower is boundless, as seen in the Giant's March.
When the giants began their rampage across Hiraeth, the Vosvogora were the frontline knights, able to take massive damage that would fell other giants. The giants were known for reaching into the sky and taking the power of the stars, and the Vosvogora are proof of their conquest. Able to mutter a guttural incantation, their armor would become coated in starlight, banishing all magic and enforcing their bones to take any punishment. They were said to have a devastating tactic, where they would take ammunition from abandoned siege weapons, and with their arm infused with fire from the stars, they could barrage cities with explosive force. A tactic still witnessed by giants today is using rubble and uprooted trees as weapons, though the Vosvogora could wield them with unmatched prowess and could smash through all resistance. Even just the arms of a Vosvogora were said to be able to rip through a castle with ease to tear out the foundations. Being the frontline fighters took their tole on the knightly giants, and eventually they couldn't keep pace with the march. They are near mythical in contemporary times, even in the Land of the Giants far in the west. A tale that still haunts history are the alleged stories of the Vosvogora charging through cities on the backs of titanic steeds. It is unknown whether the apocalyptic image of these giants riding in to battle was metaphorical, or if one of the beasts they share a home with went into battle with them. The thought of giant cavaliers is a nightmarish one many knights and monster wranglers have chosen to repress for the sake of their own sanity.
