Description
Friends to all travelling folk, the Lephish are kindly souls, making even the darkest parts of their wetland home. Their range is vast, navigating many complex water ways-- like the people of Hiraeth, they strive to see the sights and explore. Their spaced out look and wiggly nose may seem slightly alarming to some, but Lephish means no harm. They settle in swamps and marshlands, but also the flooded forests where druids often find respite. Lephish are custodians of the world around them, often eating weeds and parasites that prevent other plants from growing. Whatever water enters their system is naturally purified and then shot out through their nose, letting them water the land flora in long reaching arcs.
A Lephish resting in the stream can also be used as a stepping stone when trying to delve deeper into the wetlands. Though these places often give way to ancient cursed grounds from the old witch covens, the Lephish don't seem to mind them, and are unaffected by their foul aura. Lephish are friends with the modern witches, who have abandoned their profane legacy. When these witches broke free of their predecessors, they appealed to the spirits for help, and many beasts also protected them. When faced with monsters, the Lephish would shoot bolts of pure water out their trunk, piercing the abominations. When greater measures had to be taken, the Lephish would find ways to expand the rivers and lakes towards the old witch coven grounds, so mighty water spirits could pen in their monstrosities. The Lephish have proven over time that despite their gentle nature, they are willing to protect their friends by whatever means.
