Hiraeth Creature #833 - Taziltali

Description

A beast infamous in ancient history, many throughout the ages have had little trust for the wild Taziltali. They travel in packs, slithering through the dirt and bounding over bushes, often scaring the wits out of travellers as they are suddenly in the midst of these frantic beasts. Taziltali don't often hunt after travellers unless in times of desperation, but that doesn't stop them from their wily ways. Taziltali have an amazing sense of smell (as implied by their large snoot) and if a traveller has something they want, they'll definetly know about it from a mile away. These rowdy displays are often for coercing food, but occasionally it can be for some kind of lustrous object the Taziltali may have noticed. Like a good number of weird beasts in Hiraeth, Taziltali have an affinity for shiny things, which they communally share as they adorn their large nest, hidden underground. Taziltali are quick to react, so the best way to get them to leave is to either throw something innocuous to the side to distract them, or making a loud enough noise to shock their delicate ears to scare them away.

Taziltali are regarded as vagrant and trickster beasts, as was told in ancient records, back from when the folk of Hiraeth were just beginning to emerge. Many stories blamed these beasts for villages having to move, as the cunning creatures would easily break into food stores and gobble up emergency caches or steal them away back to their dens. Taziltali have amazing communication abilities, making small echoing noises others can barely hear, and each member of the pack ricocheting the noise between one another, allowing for intricate conversation and commands. Their serpentine bodies can crawl about and make nary a noise when they restrain their mischievous side. They have a strange ability to squeeze themselves into unexpected places, somehow getting through doors and blockades without breaking them. This allowed the Taziltali to stay safe from retribution as the entrances to their den are small and scattered, leading many records to say they could disappear into the earth without even digging. Though mainly reviled as a symbol of trickery and deceit, witches and other magical outcasts found an unusual companion with the Taziltali. Though energetic and devious, they are incredibly smart beasts, allowing them to be befriended and trained in certain situations. They could tamed as familiars, able to sniff out and retrieve magical reagents and treasures and aid in combat. Mages discovered that the Taziltali also had a magical property of their own, as they are able to deflect magic with their echoing shriek, causing to change direction and become stronger. Barely affected by Hiraeth's many ages, their success and perseverance over time is something to respect in its own way.

May I please reference this art piece?

Referencing as in create a shortcut to my desktop to this url, not download the file and not directly copy this work?

And when i ask someone if I can reference the art,

I have these rules:

1.) I clearly define what i am asking like:

- what will i be referencing in the artwork.

- how i intend to use that reference in my art

2.) If this is an art piece made and owned by artist then i talk to them.

3.) If this is an adoptable, commission, or other bought work,

Then I MUST ask both the artist and person who owns the art.

4.) Cannot directly copy the art in any way.

What i want to reference: I would like permission to use the concept of a hognosed two legged long tailed mammal.

How i intend to reference: I am hoping to collect various examples of animals from many sources for fantasy creature creation.
